10" (25 cm.) x 8 1/2" x 4 1/2". Of fine burr-yew wood,with fruitwood stripe inlays and a painted Grecian-theme image on the lid which has tapered edges that complement the slightly-tapered side walls,with bone escutcheon (key included) and brass lion尽 head handles,the beautifully- fitted chest has pink paper lining on the inside lid,and gold-accented pink fabric lining on the lower compartments,and several hidden ?love letter" compartments. There is a leather-covered wooden tray with three silver sewing tools (scissors,needle case,and stiletto),two boxes with burr-yew wood lids and bone handles,rose pink silk pincushion,and five open sections that contain a bounty of sewing tools,including two tape measures (one with velvet pincushion lid),seashell-cased pincushion,threads,red leather book-shaped case lettered ? Best Needles" and more. Excellent condition. England,Regency era,circa 1815,attributed to Ottoway of London.
