Description
3" (8 cm.) x 2 1/2" marble base. A gilt metal basket with
detailed impressions of basket weave and straps,two
handles,and having hinged lid with applique gilt flourishes
that center a mother-of-pearl medallion with applique of a
single berry,leaf and stem; the basket has original pin
attachment to marble base and was designed as a container
for small sewing tools. French,mid-1800s.
