Description
28" (71 cm.) (including dome). Arranged on an ebony wooden base under original glass dome is a vignette featuring an elegant bisque head lady seated at a piano in her salon, with blue glass eyes, closed mouth, lush original blonde mohair wig in ringlet curls, lady-shaped slender body, wearing original (frail) silk costume. Mirrored walls with silk curtain sides and decorative lithograph wall and floor papers enhance the concept of the room setting, while candles, sheet music and other accessories complete the scene. When wound, beautiful music plays and the lady elegantly performs at the piano. Condition: original, bisque lady is excellent, mechanism and music function well, costume and curtains have some frailty. Comments: Paris, Jean-Marie Phalibois, circa 1880, from that firm's luxury line of domed automaton vignettes. Value Points: all-original, the music and motions enhanced by her beautiful face and luxurious setting of salon.
