Description
14" (36 cm.) x 10" x 6"h. An octagon-shaped wooden box
with black lacquered finish is elaborately-gilt-decorated
with village scenes and borders,has carved wooden claw
feet and brass bail handles. The chest opens to a fitted
interior including two green silk pincushions and carved
bone compartment fittings,as well as an extraordinary
number of carved bone sewing tools including folding tape
measure,cloth tape measures,needle holders,thread
winders,spool holders,thimbles,folding tablet,and more.
Excellent condition. Chinese for the export trade,circa
1800.
