Description
15" (38 cm.) x 10" x 6"h. The wooden box is completely
covered with richly-embossed gilt papers and has tiny
brass claw feet,detailed shaping of lid with two side
mirrors that flank a large framed embroidery panel
featuring an applique embroidery of velvet flowers and
leaves on silk. The box opens to a well-fitted interior
decorated by a gilt-paper framed mirror and rose paper on
the inside lid,and nine framed colored engravings
depicting various scenes of Vienna and surrounding area
including the Tivoli Park,the Pleasure Castle behind the
Schobrunn Palace and the Knight尽 Palace (each is
identified). Below the scenes are six boxes on the sides
which actually hide six lower boxes which can be slide-
accessed when the center open panel and center fitted
compartment is removed. Contained in the boxes are about
60 wound threads on original hand-made wooden bobbins. the
threads in classic colors of the era. Excellent condition.
