8" (20 cm.) Honey-toned poupee wax head depicting adult woman with gentle expression, tiny black bead eyes, closed mouth, original brunette hand-tied wig, firmly-wrapped armature body with hand-stitched cover, stitched on green shoes, wax hands. Condition: very good, costume skirt has some frailty, two fingers worn. Comments: Dutch, early 1700s, attributed to Rotterdam area, nearly identical to dolls shown in the Petronella doll houses of the Rijks Museum. Value Points: the rare early doll is wearing her original hand-stitched costume including layered undergarments, fringed bonnet and linen reticule with embroidered date 1718.
