The petite sewing box has mother-of- pearl veneers accented by gilt frame and borders centering a miniature Balthasar Wigand watercolor painting under beveled glass depicting a lively detailed scene in Vienna, with the historic Karl Church in the background surrounded by numerous other buildings, and a busy street scene with nearly 30 persons strolling the boulevard or riding in various horse and carriages. The box opens to a mirrored back with tri-color cord edging and a velvet base fitted to accommodate the original gold sewing tools within, comprising scissors with silver blades, needle case, winder, thimble, and stiletto.
