Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) w. Arranged upon the mother-of-pearl base
with single drawer having elaborate gilt knob and matching
gilt feet,is a burgundy velvet covered pincushion with
gilt frame,and a back panel with a watercolor painting by
Balthasar Wigand depicting the Weiburg Palace in Baden
with a village scene in the foreground along with a
bridge,river,and road with teams of horses and
carriages,and many people. The painting is flanked by two
gilded curved arms that support mother-of-pearl thimble
plates,and a hidden panel at the back has recesses for
sewing tools,of which the original mother-of-pearl
scissors is included. Excellent condition,few paint rubs
on scene. Vienna,circa 1830.
