Description
11" (28 cm.) Of wood and heavy card stock,the sewing box
is in the shape of a Biedermeier-era sofa with heavy form
and rolled arms,and is decorated with silk cover,embossed
gilt papers,mirrors,and embroidered velvet with
floral,leaf,and wreath designs on the arms and seat,and
with ship design with waving flat at the back panel. The
seat slides forward for access to the box beneath.
Original paper label on the underside indicates the shop
of Johann Nadler,and there is a fabric folio at the
backside holding a French letter dated 1849. Excellent
condition. Viennese,circa 1840.
