Description
8" (20 cm.) x 6" x 2 1/2". A wooden/paper mache sewing box
has rich paper cover with gold leaf paper edging that
centers a large oval glass-covered arrangement of cut
velvet floral design with embroidered details. The box
opens to a mirrored back with wide pressed gold paper
frame,and a fitted lift-out tray in the base with four
paper-trimmed compartments including a red-velvet
pincushion above a hidden compartment. The tray lifts out
for access to another hidden compartment. Excellent
condition. Viennese,circa 1830.
