Description
11" (28 cm.) x 9" x 6"h. The wooden sewing box is
completely covered with deeply-embossed
gold papers,ebony trim,mirrors,painted gold columns,lock
and key,and a raised center panel on
the lid with delicate morning glory needlework design
under glass. The box opens to a mirrored
back with six borders,and base with a lift-out tray that
disguises a fitted lower section containing
center wooden spool holder and two ?love letter"
compartments. The tray is fitted with nine
sections,the center with eight-panel gilt-paper lined
mirrors,and the others that are green paper
lined,the lids with gold paper edging,four lids with
decorated mirrors,and four lids being
miniature watercolors (a woman,a flower,a castle scene and
a monument scene). Excellent
condition,one interior mirror has a crack.
