Description
9" (23 cm.) closed. A uniquely-shaped sewing box with rich
curly-maple frame opens at the center medallion to form a
trapezoidal shape,and is filled with more than 25 carved
bone sewing tools arranged in original velvet fitted
niches. some with silver accents. The outer case is
decorated with filigree silver that frames a round
miniature watercolor by Balthasar Wigand depicting Prater
Park in Vienna with a view of Stephanå°½ Cathedral in the
background,and persons strolling or riding in open-top
horse drawn carriage in the foreground. Excellent
condition. Vienna,Biedermeier era,circa 1810,the case is
rare for its style,its miniature painting,and its opulent
set of original bone sewing tools.
