Description
" (15 cm.) and 6 1/2". Each with honey-toned poured wax head depicting young lad and girl, with well-shaped and expressive facial features, tiny glass bead eyes, closed mouth, firm armature body with hand-stitched body cover, wax hands. Condition: very good, wax slightly dust-smudged, one finger broken on hand. Comments: Dutch, early 1700s, attributed to Rotterdam area, nearly identical to dolls shown in the Petronella doll houses of the Rijks Museum. Value Points: the rare early dolls are wearing their original silk village costumes, the lad with extended expressive arms, the girl with green silk reticule and carrying logs, the two dolls presented in original early lidded box.
