Description
25" (64 cm.) x 19" x 33"h. Of finest woods with natural
finish and inlaid with exotic fruitwoods in floral and
garland designs,the work table is fashioned with elegant
curves of the Biedermeier era. Its tops hinges open to a
large beveled mirror on the inside lid,framed by intricate
inlays and designed to allow the mirror to hinge forward
easel style. The cabinet has an elaborately-arranged set
of compartments and niches designed to accommodate
sewing,toilette or letter-writing,while yet sipping tea
and listening to music. The niches include two
inkwells,pen holder,lidded boxes,an oval marble ring box
with gold frame,a section with ten revolving tinted-bone
bobbins,a fitted section with exquisitely decorated
Bohemian glass goblet,and another section with fitted
recess for porcelain cup and saucer with 1837 mark of the
Klosterle porcelain firm,a velvet-covered section with
recesses for original sewing accouterments which include
scissors,needle case,thimble,bobbin and a uniquely-shaped
glass perfume bottle with silver cap. Hidden under one lid
is a very fine and completely original music box with
Viennese movement,its reverse combs playing two tunes with
beautiful sound. There is a secret ?love letter"
