13" (33 cm.) Seated upon a red velvet-covered base with ebony wooden feet is a bisque head doll with brown glass eyes,painted lashes and brows,dark eyeliner,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig with original curls,carton torso and legs,metal upper arms,painted metal hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Vichy,circa 1860. When wound,and lever released the violinist turns his head side-to-side and plays the violin moving his right hand in a realistic back-and-forth and turning manner,while two tunes play. Value Points: pristine perfectly-preserved condition,with elegant blue and ivory silk costume with lace and pom-pom trim,matching Marquis hat,original violin,and original paper tune label listing the two tunes "La Jour et la Nuit Chanson" and "Le Petit Bleu Valse"; mechanism and music function well.
