Description
19" (38 cm.) Standing upon a velvet covered wooden base is a bisque head doll with brown glass paperweight eyes,painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils,open mouth with outlined lips row of teeth,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque forearms. He is wearing a silk costume in the 18th century style and carries a nicely-shaped wooden pipe horn. When wound he turns his head from side-to-side,then nods as he lifts the pipe to his mouth to play a tune; music plays. Condition: old hairline behind left ear,music and mechanism function well. Marks: Tete Depose Paris Bebe 2 (head). Comments: Roullet et Decamps,circa 1895. Value Points: charming automaton,with original paper tune label on underside indicating "Les Dragons de Villard".
