12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with plump round facial modeling,small blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading and prominent pupils,dark eyeliner,mauve blushed eye shadow,painted lashes,lightly-feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,tiny closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,original (sparse) lambswool wig over original pink plaster pate,Schmitt composition and wooden eight loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and flat-cut derriere,wearing early white pique dress with cutwork collar,undergarments,leather shoes signed L.D.,socks,and very fine tulle coiffe with mauve silk edging. Condition: generally excellent,original faint firing line by right ear. Marks: Sch (in shield,on head and derriere 3/0 (head) 000 (impressed on original pate). Comments: Schmitt et Fils,circa 1877,earliest period bebe from that firm. Value Points: precious petite size with original body,body finish,pate,with most captivating expression and delicate bisque,fine antique costume.
