Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Gaultier,circa 1875. Value Points: the doll wears elaborate original fortune-telling ensemble,including brown velvet sorcerer hat,vest and cape decorated with gold medallions,and having original fortune-telling skirt composed of 100s of folded paper leaves with hand-written fortunes in French,mostly concerning the perils and fortunes of love; the grand size of the doll and the enormous number of fortunes is remarkable.
