Description
12" (32 cm.) circ. of head. Solid domed wooden carved head
with flanged neck,blue glass sleep eyes,painted brown baby
hair,painted creamy complexion with curly lashes,closed
mouth and slightly-blushed cheeks,on original muslin Bye-
lo body with celluloid hands,antique costume. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: 224 175 32 (and other
illegible markings on neck flange). Comments: the wooden-
head Bye-lo,presented in 1925 by Harry Schoenhut,was an
exact likeness of the Grace Storey Putnam bisque Bye-lo;
few examples of this doll are known to exist. Value
Points: very rare American doll with perfectly-preserved
original finish.
