16" (41 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted
facial features,ruddy complexion,depicting an adult lady
with slight crooked smile,having pronounced nose,dark
brown impasto-painted hair shaped smoothly around her face
and pulled into a tight knot at the back of her head,brown
painted eyes,red and brown upper eyeliner,single stroke
brows,closed mouth,slender body with cotton sateen body
cover,oil-painted stitch-jointed arms and legs,separate
thumbs and defined fingers,antique costume. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: (original Chase logo on
leg,and original paper label). Comments: Martha Chase of
Rhode Island,circa 1890,from the series of adult ladies
and gentleman,likely representing characters from various
books. Value Points: very rare model with nose and mouth
shape,unusual complexion,original paper label.
