15" (38 cm.) Composition flanged head with sculpted facial features to resemble
Chaplin,sculpted short black curly hair,painted brown side-glancing eyes,little sculpted
moustache,closed mouth,cloth body with pin-jointing,sewn-on black shoes. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: Charlie Chaplin,World's Greatest Comedian...Amberg (cloth tag on wrist).
Comments: Amberg,circa 1915,the doll was described by Don Jensen in his Contemporary Doll
Collector column: "one of the best images [of Chaplin] was the first,created in 1915 by Louis
Amberg & Son". Value Points: now nearly 100 years old,the doll is wonderfully-
preserved,wearing his original costume with fine original finish.
