Description
12" (30 cm.) Composition head with sculpted black derby hat and sculpted hair,painted facial
features,side-glancing eyes,sculpted moustache,closed mouth,on carton torso,loose pants lower
legs with brown cloth sewn-on shoe-feet,metal arms. When the arms are twisted,as original
cloth label dictates,the doll performs a series of somersaults. Condition: generally
excellent,functions well. Marks: Trademark "Gee" Tumbling Toys,Turn arm in direction of arrow
(cloth tag on arm). Comments: depicted is Charlie Chaplin performing his famous
somersaults,circa 1918. The toy was created by Gund in 1917,according to research uncovered
by Don Jensen. Value Points: rare and well-preserved amusing toy.
