28" (71 cm.) Dark honey-toned poured wax shoulder head with oval face and elongated
throat,blue glass inset eyes with deeply-modeled eye lids,aquiline nose,tinted brows and
lashes,closed mouth with accented lips,brunette inserted hair,pierced ears,muslin padded
torso and upper limbs,poured wax lower limbs and bare feet,slender limbs,brass grommets
for attachment of ties. Condition: old wax repair on right shoulder,wig a bit sparse. Marks:
(Lucy Peck stamp on torso). Comments: Lucy Peck,circa 1890,whose doll shop specialized in
portraits of Queen Victoria as a young lady. The doll was featured in an article "The Wax Dolls
of Queen Victoria's Reign" by Estelle Johnston,Doll News,Summer 1979. Value Points: sublime
beauty of the rare large portrait wax doll,with original maker's stamp,and wearing very fine
original ivory satin gown,undergarments,and accessories.
