20" (51 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,very plump
cheeks,almond-shaped blue glass inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,arched
feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with gentle enigmatic
smile,outlined lips,ears pierced into head,brunette human hair over cork pate,French kid
poupee body with gusset-jointing,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,the first model of the smiling series,circa 1867. Value
Points: especially beautiful poupee with lovely pale bisque,original sturdy body,wearing
wonderful multi-layered costume comprising red woolen walking suit with black velvet
trim,undergarments including hooped petticoat,stockings,early leather boots,black woolen
coat whose fancy gilt buttons accent the gilt antique jewelry,feathered flannel hat,woolen knit
muff.
