18" (46 cm.) Solid domed wax-over-papier-mache shoulder head with painted black pate under
original brunette human hair wig,brown glass inset eyes,painted features,closed mouth,original
hand-sewn linen body,wax hands. Condition: very good,original finish albeit some craquelure
and rubs. Marks: H.W. Morrell Jr/50 Burlington Arcade/Oxford Street (torso stamp). Comments:
the doll was offered by the London store that specialized in wax dolls,circa 1850. Value Points:
wearing beautiful original white mull wedding gown with silk fringe,coronet,green silk ribbon
trim,undergarments,white silk boots with side lacing. The doll was features in an article by
Estelle Johnston in Doll Reader,August 1994.
