12" (30 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with heart-shaped face and elongated slender throat,sculpted shaded black hair with defined braid at the crown,painted dark blue eyes,black upper eyeliner,heavily-modeled eyelids,single stroke brows,closed mouth with outlined lips,muslin torso and upper arms,kid separately-stitched fingers,silk-faille covered wooden legs with loose-jointing at hips and knees designed to appear as though dancing about. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa 1840,Value Points: the rare doll is all-original,has beautiful painting and sculpting,original costume and cap,glued-on silk shoes. The doll has a blue ribbon award from 1998 UFDC convention,and was acquired by Estelle Johnston from the prestige early collection of Estelle Winthrop.
