6 1/2" (17 cm.) Carved wooden head of elderly man with defined wrinkles on brown,bald pate,carved and painted long grey hair at the back neck and long curly beard,painted facial features,linen-wrapped body with carved wooden hands and feet. Condition: generally excellent,original finish well-preserved,some trim missing on back of stand. Comments: late 1700s,the aged man wears his original red silk bishop's cassock,slippers and alb with embroidery and lace,matching tall cap,and carrying wooden gilt staff,on original gilt-trimmed wooden stand.
