Description
8" (20 cm.) Each of three dolls is all-composition with head and torso in the shapes of
baseballs including impressed and painted stitching (Fan-ie with horizontal stitching and Fan
and Ginger with vertical stitching),painted facial features,slightly-defined round side-glancing
eyes,painted curly upper lashes,nostrils,tiny painted mouth,jointed composition arms with
modeled baseball in hand,Fan-ie with sculpted ribbon loops at crown and back torso,jointed
toddler legs,included are two original soft rubber baseball gloves. Condition: generally
excellent,very minor and nearly imperceptible surface lines. Marks: V. McMN (heads).
Comments: depicted are three characters,Fan,Fan-ie,and Ginger,inspired by the 1933
illustrated children's stories of "The Baseball Kids,Smallest Baseball Team in the World" by
Valrie McMahan. Information about the author,the dolls and her books appeared in a well-
researched article in Doll Reader,September 1997. Value Points: extremely rare dolls in
wonderful condition,amusingly designed,with fascinating storylines.
