French Bisque Poupee "Lily" by Madame Lavalle-Peronne with Trunk,Trousseau and Provenance

Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,brown glass enamel eyes,painted lashes and feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth,accented lips,ears pierced into head,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with slender waist,gusset-jointed limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: A La Poupee de Nuremberg...Lavallee-Peronne (remnants of original paper label). Comments: circa 1862,the poupee was presented in the doll boutique "A La Poupee de Nuremberg" owned by Madame Lavalle-Peronne,described in La Poupee Modele as a "dollmaker of exquisite taste"; she presented her poupee as Lily,and her shop was notable not only for beautiful dolls,but,even more importantly,for costumes and accessories for Lily. Value Points: rare to find with boutique label,the poupee owns her original trunk with costumes and accessories,including nine various costumes and gowns (with additional pieces),and extensive undergarments,six bonnets (two with hat boxes),two pairs of ankle boots,five pairs of stockings,unusual bone fan with hand-painted leather blades in original box,mother-of-pearl dance card fan in original box,leather purse with belt,lace shawl,two black snoods,fur collar and muff,wool blanket with leather straps,bustle,leather prayer book,above-the-elbow white kid gloves,lace collar and matching cuffs,and more. The contents are presented in a French trunk marked Depose,and with the name of the original owner,Alice Le Fort,inscribed on brass plate on the trunk lid. Included is an early framed daguerrotype,presumably of Alice.
