Description
16" (41 cm.) Solid domed papier-mache shoulder head, painted brown hair with brush-stroked detail, brown enamel eyes with heavily-modeled eyelids, painted eyeliner and brows, aquiline nose, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pink kid poupee body with shapely torso and straight limbs, sculpted papier-mache hands with separately-posed fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the French market, circa 1860,the unusual substance of the papier-mache lends an impression of carved wood to the finished doll which is wearing her original multi-layered habit of St. Francis nuns including rosary.
