18" (46 cm.) Bisque shoulder head with plump face,cobalt blue glass inset eyes,thick dark
eyeliner,painted curly lashes,arched feathered brows,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with
outlined lips,ears pierced into head,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid poupee body
with gusset-jointing,bisque arms to above the elbows,dimpled elbows,separately-sculpted
fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: B 4 S. Comments: Blampoix,circa 1860. Value
Points: early signed poupee with beautiful bisque head and bisque arms is wearing a superb
costume,was created of antique fabrics and accessories by Estelle Johnston from a mid-1800s
Godey Book engraving; titled "Four Seasons" the ball gown of finest soft ivory satin features a
woven basket-shaped bodice with cascading Springtime flowers,cat-tails to symbolize
Summer,glass grapes with leaves for Autumn,and crystal beads dotting the skirt for winter;
along with undergarments,coronet,satin slippers and stockings.
