12" (30 cm.) Carton shoulder head of adult lady with oval-shaped face and painted facial
features,blue eyes with simple extended-line eyeliner and one-stroke brows,closed
mouth,tacked-on brunette wig,very slender kid body with high waist,one-piece torso and slender
legs,kid upper arms,wooden hands,wearing early (possibly original) silk gown with tassel
ties,undergarments,woven stockings,tied-on kid slippers. Condition: generally excellent,all
original finish and body. Comments: French,circa 1820,an early poupee with all original
head,body and wig,her highly stylized simple facial painting indicates her original presentation at
fair or bazaar,making her continued existence all the more rare. Value Points: charming and rare
early and well-preserved version of the traditional French poupee.
