11" (28 cm.) seated. Wax-over-papier-mache head with blonde sculpted curly hair under a
sculpted pink cap with white and yellow feathers,brown glass inset eyes,dark eyeliner and
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with outlined lips,wooden block torso with bellows,wire
upper arms,carved wooden lower arms and legs,painted black boots. Condition: generally
excellent,original finish with few typical rubs. Comments: Germany,circa 1870,when the bellows
is squeezed,the boy moves his right arm to beat the drum he is holding,and his legs to cause the
ankle cymbals to clang. Value Points: rare and delightful doll toy with sculpted bonnet and
playful action,original brown velvet costume.
