22" (56 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head with heart-shaped face,painted complexion and
facial features,blue eyes with upper eyeliner,brows,closed mouth,painted moustache and
goatee,firmly-stitched muslin and kid body with elongated shape and limbs. Condition: very
good/excellent,some craquelure,nose tip rub. Comments: Germany or Dutch,early 19th century.
Value Points: the well-painted hair is enhanced by carved definition of curls,sculpted
ears,unusual detail of facial painting includes eye whites,wearing wonderful 1830-style costume
of antique fabrics accurately created by Estelle Johnston and including antique accessories such
as shoes and fob with watch and key.
