Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with slender oval face and elongated
throat,light brown sculpted hair with arranged ringlet curls onto her forehead edged with gold
beading,very long loosely coiled braid wrapped around the back and crown with long ringlet
curls escaping onto her nape,sculpted pierced ears,cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes with
very thick dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,arched feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with accent line between the lips,elaborately sculpted and painted
bodice with shaded blue blouse edged with magenta and pink trim and tiny white beads,and a
sculpted blue and gold necklace that extends entirely around the throat,muslin stitch-jointed
body,bisque lower limbs,painted fancy boots,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: Germany,circa 1870,attributed to C.F. Kling. Value Points: the beauty of the doll is
rivaled only by the exceptional rarity factors including hair coiffure and color,hair
beading,glass eyes,sculpted necklace and bodice; few other examples are known to exist. The
doll is featured on the cover of Identifying German Parian Dolls by Mary Krombholz.
