Description
15" (38 cm.) Wax-over-papier-mache shoulder head of infant with head inclined to the
side,small black enamel inset eyes,heavily-modeled eyeliner,closed mouth,blonde hair in
arranged curls,attached to papier-mache swaddling form with silk cover,tulle ruffle at the
shoulderplate,and original early bonnet. Condition: generally excellent,some surface dustiness of
silk,little wax wrinkle on forehead. Comments: Germany,early 19th century. Value Points:
wonderful facial modeling especially of nose and mouth,enamel eyes,original swaddling form and
cover.
