11" (28 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head of adult lady with heart-shaped face and very
elongated throat,carved and painted black hair with wide pouf curls and elaborate very high
loop-curled top knot,painted complexion and facial features,wire-looped earrings,attached to
all-wooden body with shapely torso,dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,painted
red flat shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa 1830. Value Points:
wonderful early doll with extravagant hair style,the looped topknot is so finely rendered as to
allow actual opening between the loops rather than the usual solid loops,wearing early original
gown,apron and undergarments.
