Description
20" (51 cm.) Wax over papier-mache shoulder plate with slender oval face and elongated
throat,blonde mohair wig arranged in a bevy of curls at the crown with extended curls below
and decorated with tiny roses,dark blue glass inset eyes,painted lashes and brows,ears
pierced into head,polished chintz body with papier-mache arms having painted yellow
gloves,and papier-mache lower legs have glued-on knit stockings with fancy garters and
fancy brown and brown sculpted papier-mache feet with orange tassels,fine silk fashion
gown,undergarments,jewelry. Condition: very good,some faint craquelure to wax. Comments:
attributed to Dressel from their series of "Staatsdamen" (society ladies),circa 1875. Value
Points: rare "yellow glove" lady and especially fancily designed boots. The doll was featured by
Estelle Johnston in "German Wax Ladies",Doll Reader,February 1993.
