Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) Poured wax head with pale complexion,blue enamel eyes,painted lashes and
brows,aquiline nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth,original blonde mohair fleecy wig,on
papier-mache shoulder plate with original glued-on plaid cotton bodice,and with attached blue
silk and cream cashmere head wear. The bottom of the shoulderplate is covered,box-like,with a
removable disc center for use as a candy box. Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Germany,circa 1875,inspired by the popular Princess Alexandra of Wales. Value Points: all-
original (including fabric cover and head wear) portrait,in intriguing shape as candy box,featured
in an article "High Society" by Estelle Johnston in Doll Reader,May 1996.
