18" (46 cm.) All-wooden doll with one piece carved head and shapely torso,heart-shaped face
and elongated throat,daintily-pointed chin,black painted hair with yellow tuck comb at the
crown and profuse painted curls framing the forehead and sides of face,tiny carved
nose,painted complexion,painted features,outlined brown eyes,arched brows,closed mouth
with center accent line,wooden limbs with dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and
knees,carved hands with defined thumbs,painted green shoes. Condition: generally
excellent,typical light craquelure on complexion,nose tip rubbed. Comments:
Germany,Grodnertal region,circa 1830. Value Points: having great presence and fine original
finish,the lady doll is notable for extravagant painting of hair,elegantly-shaped face,larger
size,and wearing early costume comprising tulle gown with ruffled yoke,undergarments,and
padded green silk day dress with pleated ruffles.
