21" (53 cm.) Very thick papier-mache shoulder head with perfectly-oval face and strong
throat,defined eye sockets with painted brown downcast eyes,red and black eyeliner,single
stroke brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth,blushed cheeks,chin and nose,original (sparse)
hemp wig,carved wooden torso,upper arms and legs with dowel jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,papier-mache lower arms with separately-sculpted fingers.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments: 18th century,probably Germany. Value Points: most
artistic detail of facial modeling and painting,wooden body,and original elaborately-padded
brocade silk gown with metallic embroidery,undergarments,stockings,knee-high kidskin boots
with silk bows,and carrying metallic-tasseled wand.
