Depicting a man and woman,each with papier-mache shoulder head,painted hair and facial features,wooden limbs,with elaborate costumes in the Brittany folklore style constructed of colorful tiny shells,and mounted upon original wooden bases. Condition: very good,woman has old repair at neck. Comments: French,with use of German papier-mache heads,created in Brittany seaside towns,mid-19th century. Value Points: charming couple,included is a rare cardboard candy container in the shape of a sleigh bed,with seashell encrusted surface,original red silk bed cover,and a pull-out drawer originally used as candy box.
