18" (46 cm.) Each has carton moule shoulder head,painted eyes,painted all-around lashes,single
stroke brows,closed mouth,human hair wig,elongated slender kid body with high waist,carved
wooden hands. Condition: very good,original finish well-preserved. Comments: French,circa
1810,very early commercial production of poupees. Value Points: rare to find,especially as this
always-matched pair,the man with painted brown eyes,and the woman with painted blue eyes are
wearing very elaborate multi-layered folklore costumes in the Brittany tradition,with rich detail of
embroidery and trim,and luxury details such as glazed highlights of eyes lending an enamel look.
