Description
11" (28 cm.) Solid domed papier-mache head with black enamel eyes,all-around painted
lashes,arched brows,open mouth,two tiny teeth,light silk or mohair wig in very elaborate original
coiffure,papier-mache shapely torso and legs,wire upper arms,wooden lower arms,posed
standing on a tinplate platform with three spoked wheels. When wound,the lady glides and twirls.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Theroude,circa 1850,from his series of small
mechanical toys. Value Points: very fine state of originality,the elaborate coiffure with braided
coronet and chignon decorated with beaded flowers to match her earrings,and having fine
necklace,wearing original silk gown with lace and gilt paper trim.
