16" (41 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with oval face and slender elongated throat,having sculpted light brown hair waved away from her face with feathering details at the sides,captured in a cluster of arranged curls at the back,and decorated with two Dresden roses with gilt-tipped green leaves,fully-sculpted pierced ears,almond-shaped cobalt blue enamel eyes,black eyeliner,painted lower lashes,single stroke brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,slightly-parted lips with rare defined tongue tip,original muslin stitch-jointed body,bisque lower limbs,painted flat black shoes with burgundy laces,wearing exquisite rose/ivory silk gown,undergarments,jewelry. Condition: generally excellent,very minor retouch on two rose petals. Comments: Germany,circa 1870,attributed to C.F. Kling. Value Points: rarity factors include glass eyes,slightly-parted lips with tongue tip,brown hair color of rare coiffure with rare ornaments,pierced ears. The doll is featured in a full page photograph in Identifying German Parian Dolls by Mary Krombholz,and bears a blue ribbon award from UFDC 1983 national convention.
