Germany, circa 1875,probably Dressel, from the "yellow gloves" series of "Staatdamen" (society
ladies); the fashionable adult lady dolls were created simultaneously with the French bisque
poupees of the mid-1870s era and competed for that market. Value Points: very beautiful face
with dramatic eyes, fancy gloves have two button closure, luxurious large size. The doll was
featured in an article by Estelle Johnston "German Wax Ladies" in Doll Reader,February 1993.
