26" (66 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head with elongated throat and artistically-carved head
and hair,with scalloped curls framing the face and tucked behind sculpted ears,then overall wavy
curls at the back,sculpting detail of the face includes defined eye sockets,nose,mouth,and
chin,painted detail of features includes brown downcast eyes with white eyedots,red and black
upper eyeliner,ochre- blushed eye shadow,feathered brows,closed mouth,original hand-stitched
muslin body with leather hands. Condition: nose tip chipped off,typical age rubs on generally
well-preserved original finish. Comments: probably Dutch or Northern Germany,early-19th
century. Value Points: compelling strong presence of the early doll,with well-defined carving of
hair,artistic details of painting.
