Description
4 1/2" (11 cm.) Each has bisque socket head,blue glass inset eyes,painted features,paper mache
five-piece body with painted shoes,including aged man with long sculpted beard and
moustache,pronounced nose,impressed age lines,original brown felt coat and black velvet cap;
and aged woman with pronounced angular cheeks,chin and nose,closed mouth with gentle
smile,wearing black silk costume with lace coiffe. Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Germany,circa 1890. The dolls are shown in Evelyn Ackerman's Dolls in Miniature,page
209,described as having "greatest detail of individual characterization".
