11" (28 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very full lower face,blue glass enamel inset eyes in
hand-cut eye sockets,painted lashes,feathered brows,closed mouth with outlined lips,dimpled
chin,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden eight-
loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists,wearing pretty early
costume,undergarments,socks,leather shoes. Condition: irregular cut at left eye corner (original
or flake?),left cheek rub,original body and body finish albeit somewhat worn. Marks: 1 EJ.
Comments: earliest period of the signature E.J. bebe,this example more closely resembles the
very first Jumeau bebe known as "premiere",circa 1881. Value Points: rare model with endearing
shy expression.
