Description
15" (38 cm.) Each is a carved one-piece polychromed wooden figure of guardsman in pugilistic pose, his head inclining forward or backward as though creating an integrative scene, each having carved detail of flowing brown hair and thick down-curved moustache, enamel dark eyes, and carved details of costume including fitted cap with turban wrapping, matching sash, loosely-fitted pants and open-toed sandals. Excellent condition. Genoese, late 17th century, attributed to Pietro Andrea Torre, the carved detail of costumes is exceptional, and the figures are mounted upon original stone-shaped wooden base.
